Lady of Spain

Lady of Spain

Lady of Spain was written in the 1920's by a group of 3 English composers. It's Spanish folk form became popular with accordionists and was played as their "Spanish" piece. It was made popular by accordionist Myron Floren who played it weekly on the Lawrence Welk show, and later by Dick Contino when he played it with his trademark bellows-shake. The song has since become a cliché, but is still the most well-known accordion song.
